KAV2009 Installations errOr with AVG8

Learn a new technic this morning while helping a friend to resolve his anti virus problem. The problem begin when he removed his first installed anti virus - AVG8 and upgrade from installed KAV 7.0 to KAV 2009.

During the progress, it show an alert saying AVG8 wasn't uninstall completely even he did. No surprise, this is the beauty of software if I may say. Especially anti virus or securities program.

Did a simple registry scan and clean up with CCleaner and Glary Utilities but still no luck.

Then we started to googled around and found some very useful links and help. Thanks to you guys out there... :)

A conclude, option 1 the simple way is to use these remove tools provided by KAV avg8.zip and AVG avg-remover32bit for 32bit OS or avg-remover64bit for 64bit OS. Simple and easy, no registry edit.

Option 2 is to edit the registry manually, click Start, select Run and type "regedit" then hit ok. Look for these few items,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVG7Uninstall
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVG6INSTALL
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVG8Uninstall
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVG\Avg8

Locate each of them, right click them respectively and select Delete. Extra tip is you might want to export your registry in case wrongly remove. Just click File from the menu bar and chose Export (Save) to a locations.

More details from KAV and AVG why these problem occurred.
